The nearly coincident forms of the relations between seismic moment M0 and the magnitudes ML, Ms and Mw imply a moment magnitude scale M = 2/3 logM0 - 10.7 which is uniformly valid for 3 ~< ML ~< 7, 5 ~< Ms ~< 7.5, and Mw >~ 7.5
